The metal cutting base insert has a steel surface, which is far more durable than the standard base. It is designed for cutting metals with the CARVEX jigsaw, capable of cutting non-ferrous metals up to 3/4" and steel up to 3/8" thick. A metal cutting blade must be used for this application. When using dust extraction during metal cutting, use Festool's optional spark trap to prevent hazardous conditions that may lead to fire.
